I have been wearing black eyeliner for years and have experienced lots of brands, some good, some bad. Every hot gothic girl knows if you are going to a  gothic club and your going to be dancing and sweating a bit then do not wear liquid black  eyeliner because it smears and runs easily. There are several brands that are made from crap and make your face break out. If you want to learn about the different kinds of gothic make up or you want to know how to apply gothic makeup there are some tips you’ll want to read at http://www.hotgothicstuff.com/gothic-makeup.shtml

Gothic Clothing for Goth Girls

Buying gothic girls clothing has become much easier because of the internet but finding just the right gothic girls clothing can be challenging. There are many different styles of gothic clothing for girls because of the different gothic subcultures. If you are a mainstream goth girl you probaly dress in black, have a nose ring and dyed hair. Romantic gothic girls are more apt to wear long velvet dresses or rich brocades with lace and ornate accessories from the victorian era. To read about the different goth styles that gothic girls wear go to http://www.hotgothicstuff.com/gothic-girls.shtml  Hot Gothic Stuff helps define the style of hot gothic girls.

How to Find Gothic Jewelry

Over the years I have found beautiful ornate pieces of gothic jewelry for my collection from unusual places. I got my first gothic necklace from my grandmother, it was a marcasite cross. I loved it so much I tried to find other old pieces of jewelry so I started looking at garage sales and found an old spider ring with red gem eyes. The lady I bought it from wanted $20 and did not know anything about the ring, it had been given to her. Maybe you think that $30 for a ring from a garage sale is crazy but I knew this was a beautiful ring and I had to have it. I took the ring to a jeweler friend of mine who told me that the ring was gold and the eyes were small rubies. Ever since I found the spider ring at a garage sale I started going to garage sales regularly. I would check the newspapers early in the morning and select several sales that were in the same area. I also look for old beads, pins and beads that I disassemble and make new pieces of gothic jewelry from. Over the years I have been able to collect many fine pieces of gothic jewelry from garage sales. The most comments I get about my gothic jewelry is for the pieces that I have made from random parts of older jewelry.

Free DVD’s, Free CD’s and Free Paperbacks

I had some company over the holidays and they shared their 3 new website picks. Thanks Chris and Rachel for telling me about how to get Free DVD’s, Free CD’s and Free Paperbacks. I’ve been to all three websites and this is great way to find all the obscure media that I have been looking for. It’s also a great way to get rid of all those unwanted books, not worth a second viewing dvds and lame cd’s.

Paperback Swap has 4,250,377 free books listed today on their site www.paperbackswap.com . Swaping books is easy just list some books you have and earn a point for each book you ship to someone who requests it. In return for the point  you can get a book you want shipped to you for free. I have found some great gothic literature and books with gothic themes through paperback swapping.

Swap a dvd has 164,935 free DVD’s listed today on their website www.swapadvd.com. It’s easy to get a DVD for free just by paying the postage for shipping one to someone else. Dvd swapping is a great way to get those hard to find industrial, gothic, techno groove dvds.

www.cdswap.com with 292,647 music cds you can turn all those lame cds over and swap them for better ones at cd swap.

Thanks again to Chris and Rachel for sharing a money saving fun way to get rid of that stack of movies, Dvd’s and Cd’s sitting in my closet. Have a great week! Gemolis

Where do you get Gothic Furniture?

Are you searching for gothic furniture? I collect gothic antique furniture and have found some great gothic stuff but you have to know where to look and what to look for. One of the first things you should consider when looking for gothic style furniture is what type you are looking for. Some of the gothic furniture styles include French Gothic Revival, Renaissance Revival furniture, wrought iron, Middle Ages and Renaissance, dark wood highly ornate furniture and 19th century victorian era. You can find gothic style furniture at garage sales, antiques stores and local auctions.

The best renaissance gothic finds come from garage sales. I once got a victorian chair made of hardwood with a velvet seat for $5. The key to buying gothic stuff is to never reveal how much you desire the object because the seller knows he has you hooked and will try to get more from the piece. In the case with my $5 victorian chair, I was at a garage sale, it was the last days of the sale, the guy was moving and could not take it with him. I have a feeling he was asking alot in the previous days but noone wanted it then and now he had to get rid of it. He said make an offer on anything you see. So I acted uninterested and said we needed a chair for a corner of our house. He said make any offer. I said $5. I almost giggled in joy when he said okay but I was able to keep my composure until I was out of the driveway when I had to let out a big giggle. Wow do you know what I just got for $5. This victorian chair dates back to 1910 and is in great condition. So if you are looking for gothic furniture keep your eyes open at garage sales and never show your desire, and don’t be afraid to bargain you have nothing to lose, it gives you the advantage.

If you are looking to purchase renaissance gothic furniture here are a couple of sites that have gothic furniture styles so you can get some ideas.

Gothic Little Red Riding Hood?

That’s right the popular children’s fairy tale written by the Grimm brothers is getting a new gothic reimaging. According to Vanity fair Leonardo DiCaprio’s production house Appian Way is teaming with the screenwriter David Leslie Johnson of the newly released horror movie Orpan to recreate a gothic slant to the Red Riding Hood tale.

The fairy tale can be traced back to the 14th century in stories told to children with the first written version told in the 17th century. Little Red riding hood was a story told for generations throughout the middle ages as a dark tale that was likely a precautionary story made up to keep kids from wandering off into the woods. There have been many versions and adaptations of Red Riding Hood over the years with happier endings such as the woodcutter saving little red riding hood.

It will be interesting to see how gothic Appian way and David Leslie Johnson can take Little Red Riding Hood.

Cheap or Free Gothic Clothing

I wrote an article a while back on how to find cheap gothic clothing http://www.hotgothicstuff.com/cheap-gothic-clothing.shtml  I have had  a lot of positive feedback on the article.

Since then I found a site that has a lot of great ideas on how to make gothic clothing for free from stuff you have laying around. The first project they list is how to make a shirt and fingerless gloves out of a old pair of fishnet stockings. I tried it myself and it came out great. http://www.gothfashion.info/diy.php
