Gothic Garden Flowers and Gothic Plants

gargoyle statue perfect for a gothic garden

gargoyle statue perfect for a gothic garden

Spring is here once more; I cant wait to plant my gothic garden. I’ve grown many gothic plants over the years but some of the plants that are available now really highlight my gothic graveyard garden. I look for flowers that are dark, almost black but with rich texture like velvet. It is amazing how many varieties of black flowers I have found. I also have lots of vines because they can cover fences and other bare areas of my garden.

Here are some of my favorite dark gothic flowers and plants I’ve found, click on the links to see the pictures:
Black Angel Trumpet Datura-Gothic 10 Seeds

RARE KNIOLAS BLACK NIGHT MORNING GLORY 10 SEEDS

Sooty Sweet William 75 Seeds/Seed – Gothic

Black Nemophilia 50 Seeds/Seed – Gothic

King of the Blacks Carnation 50 Seeds -Dianthus

Bowles Black Viola 60 Seeds

Arabian Nights Hollyhock – 15 Seeds

To make a dramatic backdrop I have several gothic statues and sculptures as well as a gothic trellis in my gothic garden. When the fall comes they keep my garden looking good. If you buy statues for outdoor use they withstand frost and the freezing temperatures of winter. To give my statues and art gallery look some of my garden statues like my gargoyles are put on pedestals made of rock, stone or brick.

Here are some of the gothic garden art I have collected:
Cast Stone IMPISH IGOR GARGOYLE Garden Sculpture GOTHIC Statue

Boden Gargoyle Sentinel Sculpture

Gothic Pot Trellis

23″ GOTHIC URN

For gothic outdoor furniture I have a black outdoor iron biestro set with a couple of random iron chairs painted black. I also scatter random pillar candles which make my gothic garden a great place to hang out on a summer night.

I hope some of these ideas have inspired you to grow your own gothic garden too. Good luck with your gothic garden.

For Edgar Allen Poe Fans

There is a fascinating new book out by Peter Ackroyd called “Poe, A Life Cut Short”.  It’s a Biography of Edgar Allen Poe who is known as the praised author that does not get read a lot. Ackroyd says that Poe has been misrepresented and he did not invent gothic literature, but reinvented a tradition of horror and morbid drama. Poe was born in Boston in 1809 I found a number of interesting facts about Poe it is no wonder he was considered one of Americas important writers even before his death in 1849.

Money Saving tip: go to the library and reserve this book when it comes in as it was just published in Jan 2009.

Happy reading! Gemolis

GOTHIC GUYS IN BLACK WITH TATTOOS

Hey there, I have a special surprise for you. We just got in some great pictures of some guys with Tattoos. I’ll be working on them then adding them to the main site on the Gothic Tattoos Page.
Two of my dear friends came to visit today and show off their new tattoos. I just happened to have my camera ready to witness the occasion …
I’d like If you have any Gothic tattoos that you would like to show off if you’d send in the pictures I’ll put them up. I think it would be interesting to compare tattoos.
Have a great sunday!

I have noticed several hot topic stores closed or closing. Is it just a coincidence or has Hot Topic decided to scale back?

WHAT MAKES A GOTH?

Hey! I was wondering how each of you all became who you are now as a goth. Feel free to discuss if you want. I guess I started first on a goth site http://www.gothicmatch.com/photo/gothicgirl888 . I became interested in goth for a very long time there since I was very young as you can say pretty drawn to it. Besides my belief in pagan, I developed great interest in music, the goth clothings, and the goth way of life. I accepted the darkness as I did for the light just as life and death. I accepted the lack of beauty that most people failed to see in life. So if any of you who would like to share on how you became will be up to you.

BECOMING A GOTH

I saw my transformation as a gift, but others seemed to think I had contracted some dark disease. I never would have become as strong and confident as I am now without my newfound gothic-ness. My father was disgusted with me, and I had to fight an inner struggle for a long time to be free of his influence in my life. I was extremely shy and a loner throughout most of high school, but in my senior year I discovered that I no longer cared what people thought of me. I was sick of being what others wanted me to be. So I threw out every stitch of “nice” clothing I had. It was like taking a great weight off my shoulders to be honest. On a trip to Oklahoma with some friends, I made a small detour to a store in Wichita. I bought myself some Tripps and a single shirt. It was what I was wearing when I came home. My father tried to send me to my room, but I refused to go. I told him to get used to what he saw because it was what I wanted to be. He got angry and left. My mother looked me up and down and said, ” You look great. Don’t change.” This was shortly before they split. Now I have more inner strength and power than I ever could have thought possible in those day. Now, thanks to my dark disease, I am free.
