Summer Dracula Tour – July 9-16, 2009

If you’d like to travel abroad in tour busses in Romania to view the setting of the legendary Dracula era then this is a trip you won’t want to miss. The tour includes the Evangelical Church in Sibiu, built in 1300, which contains burial vaults connected to both Dracula and the legend of Frankenstein. You’ll see many castles on the tour as well as very old buildings. The highlight of the tour is the Monster Bash Masquerade Ball, in the dungeon at Dracula’s Castle atop the Romanian alps in Piatra Fantanele. The Dracula vacation tour includes airfare, accomodations, meals, admissions, special guests, seminars and attractions and of course parties.

Your plane will land in Romania and your first night will be spent in a spooky hotel (beautiful remote castle) on an isolated island in Bucharest. I don’t want to spoil the whole trip for you so do check out the details of a very fun vacation at http://www.dractour.com/summeritinerary.htm

Gothic Garden Flowers and Gothic Plants

gargoyle statue perfect for a gothic garden

gargoyle statue perfect for a gothic garden

Spring is here once more; I cant wait to plant my gothic garden. I’ve grown many gothic plants over the years but some of the plants that are available now really highlight my gothic graveyard garden. I look for flowers that are dark, almost black but with rich texture like velvet. It is amazing how many varieties of black flowers I have found. I also have lots of vines because they can cover fences and other bare areas of my garden.

Here are some of my favorite dark gothic flowers and plants I’ve found, click on the links to see the pictures:
Black Angel Trumpet Datura-Gothic 10 Seeds

RARE KNIOLAS BLACK NIGHT MORNING GLORY 10 SEEDS

Sooty Sweet William 75 Seeds/Seed – Gothic

Black Nemophilia 50 Seeds/Seed – Gothic

King of the Blacks Carnation 50 Seeds -Dianthus

Bowles Black Viola 60 Seeds

Arabian Nights Hollyhock – 15 Seeds

To make a dramatic backdrop I have several gothic statues and sculptures as well as a gothic trellis in my gothic garden. When the fall comes they keep my garden looking good. If you buy statues for outdoor use they withstand frost and the freezing temperatures of winter. To give my statues and art gallery look some of my garden statues like my gargoyles are put on pedestals made of rock, stone or brick.

Here are some of the gothic garden art I have collected:
Cast Stone IMPISH IGOR GARGOYLE Garden Sculpture GOTHIC Statue

Boden Gargoyle Sentinel Sculpture

Gothic Pot Trellis

23″ GOTHIC URN

For gothic outdoor furniture I have a black outdoor iron biestro set with a couple of random iron chairs painted black. I also scatter random pillar candles which make my gothic garden a great place to hang out on a summer night.

I hope some of these ideas have inspired you to grow your own gothic garden too. Good luck with your gothic garden.
Gemolis

Gothla US – Gothic Belly Dancing

Hi, my name is Liz Ohanesian and I’m a writer in Los Angeles. I saw Hot Gothic Stuff and wanted to send you a link to a story I did for the LA Weekly.

Last weekend, I had the chance to cover Gothla US, which is a gothic belly dancing festival/convention sort of thing. The performances and costumes were outstanding. Here’s the story. There’s also a slideshow that is linked at the top of the page.

I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for reading.

Liz
