The city of Melbourne was picked for a upcoming horror movie site because of the cities gothic places. “Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark” is a muti-million dollar film being filmed this summer in Australia which will create 500 new jobs. This comes at a very good time for the city of Melbourne who could use the boon to boost it’s economy. The film staring Katie Holmes is scheduled to be released in 2011.

Some of us get sick on Oceanliner cruises like the Gothic Cruise so I though it only fair to mention other options for gothic vacations.
Dracula Tours to Transylvania is a haunted halloween vampire vacation is for any ages. The Romanian Halloween Holiday is October 27th – November 23rd, 2009. Learn about the novel Dracula and spending a night at Dracula’s Castle with a gala Halloween-style masquerade ball. This is the 11th year that this event will been going on.
The summer vampire vacation is July 9 – 16th, 2009 for those of you who cannot travel around halloween because of work or other plans.

Hi, my name is Liz Ohanesian and I’m a writer in Los Angeles. I saw Hot Gothic Stuff and wanted to send you a link to a story I did for the LA Weekly.
Last weekend, I had the chance to cover Gothla US, which is a gothic belly dancing festival/convention sort of thing. The performances and costumes were outstanding. Here’s the story. There’s also a slideshow that is linked at the top of the page.

I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for reading.

There is a hot new gothic designer named Erin Fetherston from San Francisco, California. In the Fall 2009 Mercedes Benz fashion show held February 15, 2009 she used blacks, grays and reds. I did not care for the large oversized florals but the other colors went well with the muted metallic’s.
These gothic outfits look just like they are from a Tim Burton movie. If you are looking for a new look you may be able to get some good ideas on how to mix and match clothing for that gothic rebel in you.

There is a fascinating new book out by Peter Ackroyd called “Poe, A Life Cut Short”. It’s a Biography of Edgar Allen Poe who is known as the praised author that does not get read a lot. Ackroyd says that Poe has been misrepresented and he did not invent gothic literature, but reinvented a tradition of horror and morbid drama. Poe was born in Boston in 1809 I found a number of interesting facts about Poe it is no wonder he was considered one of Americas important writers even before his death in 1849.
Money Saving tip: go to the library and reserve this book when it comes in as it was just published in Jan 2009.
Happy reading! Gemolis

Hey, I just wanted to let everyone know – we had a problem with our hosting company and software for the last few months, and we’re just now getting the blog back up after being down for several days and unable to get in for quite a lot longer than that.
We’re rebuilding everything ’cause the wonderful software didn’t save -anything-. Good thing I have a copy!
The one thing that’s really gone are all the accounts of members. If your account is gone please re-register or send me your info (gem@hotgothicstuff.com) and I’ll set up a new account for you.
In the meantime, I’m setting up some temporary accounts in your names (so I can show your comments and posts in your name – not mine).
Thanks for your understanding!
What a mess!
