Next gothic cruise October 23, 2011
Price $600 - $800 depending on suite options.
October 23rd - 29th, 2011
This is a 6 night Bermuda triangle cruise from New York to Bermuda, St. Thomas and San Juan aboard the Celebrity Summit Ship. The theme of GothCruise 8 is "Putting on the Ritz". The idea of this Goth Cruise was conceived 9 years ago I Las Vegas at a drunken party room at Convergence (a yearly gathering of Goths).
The cruise features themed dances such as the mad scientists Halloween ball and the roaring 20's theme. Board the ship at Cape Liberty in Bayonne, NJ (technically NY) at 5pm on Sunday and arrive in San Juan Puerto Rico on Saturday October 29th. You can make arrangements to fly back home from there or stay a few extra days.
This cruise does not have big sponsors so the cost is lower but that does not mean that you will have less fun. Most of the advertising is done by word of mouth so you will find a much different crowd than other goth cruises. This goth cruise is more of a friends or becoming friends cruise where friends get together to have a fun vacation. The goth cruise group usually has about 200 people. Most of your dining and entertainment is included in the cruise price. There are also options that are extra. You'll also get a $75 in onboard spending credit (per cabin) to spend on the ship.
There will be a meet-n-greet where you pick up your T-shirt and your first fruity rum drink and get introduced to old friends and new friends. Expect to eat well and have fun with around the clock food and entertainment. You must be 21 or older to attend this cruise. The Goth Cruise group will be onboard with other people including families and older folks so it is more of a laid back goth cruise. We suggest proper gothic attire not fetish gear… unless it's in your cabin. Most people on the goth cruise dress casual goth and get dressed up for the formal dinners.
Since this is a grassroots cruise you may be able to be a part of it. Since most of the performers are volunteers if you are a DJ or are in a goth band they may be able to hook you up with some play time.
If you are attending the gothic cruise and would like to lend your talents to entertaining your fellow cruisers, contact Lori at gothcruise@gothcruise.com to volunteer. Event times have not been set yet, we'll keep you up to date in our blog.
Note that you are allowed to bring 2 bottles of wine onboard with you, but no beer or hard liquor. If you consume it in one of the dining rooms they will charge a $25 uncorking fee so it's best kept in your cabin. And just like a concert the search for containers of hard alcohol… so don't bring any. Special dietary needs like food allergies, gluten-free and vegetarian can be accommodated at no extra charge.
